2006 | Strategies to Strengthen Private Health Insurance Markets: An Expert Panel Dialogue on Reinsurance

Hosted by Rutgers Center for State Health Policy (CSHP) & the NJ Department of Banking & Insurance (DOBI), with funding provided through the Health Resources & Services Administration’s (USDHHS) New Jersey State Planning Grant.

The goal of this Expert Panel was to examine the potential role of reinsurance in making private coverage more affordable in New Jersey. By bringing together national experts, we engaged the audience in a discussion about which model of reinsurance might be most viable in the context of New Jersey’s current regulatory and insurance market environments. In addition, we drew upon experiences of other states that have considered, or implemented some form of reinsurance mechanism to provide relief in their private markets.

This Expert Panel was made possible by the New Jersey State Planning Grant with funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This is the eleventh and final project funded under this grant.
